Meaning
Auxiliary circulation circuits direct secondary process gas streams to dilute or reheat the primary atmosphere within battery manufacturing dry rooms. The secondary gas loop ensures that localized concentrations of volatile compounds remain below safety limits. It operates in parallel with the main desiccant air handler but does not replace the primary dehumidification unit.
System Configuration
Interconnected ductwork and dedicated secondary blowers routing gas through auxiliary condenser plates form this system. Integrating a secondary gas loop allows for the extraction of specific chemical vapors before the main stream returns to the desiccant wheel. Control valves adjust the split ratio of gas flows.
Variable speed controllers run the extraction fans depending on gas sensor data.
Operational Efficiency
Recirculating pre-cooled dry gas reduces the heating and cooling loads on the primary air make-up unit. Implementing a secondary gas loop saves energy by recycling thermal energy from the exhaust air. This efficiency reduces the overall power draw of the dry room system.
It decreases the operating cost of high-volume battery assembly plants.
Design Threshold
Moisture carryover increases if the flow rate through the secondary circuit exceeds the condensation rate. A secondary gas loop loses effectiveness during high-ambient-humidity events. Pressure balancing must be maintained between both loops.
