Meaning
A production batch of wet-mix material consisting of active materials, binders, and conductive additives prepared in a single blending cycle for coating onto an anode current collector. It represents the uniform dispersion of graphite and binders used to form the negative electrode, and an anode slurry lot must satisfy specific viscosity and solids content targets before it is approved for the slot-die coating line.
Processing Control
To secure the desired dispersion, mixing parameters are regulated through high-shear dispersing equipment. A deviation in the mixing energy or order of addition alters the rheology, causing coating defects on the copper foil. Quality technicians perform rheological sweeps to confirm the flow behavior of each batch before pumping it to the coating line.
Electrochemical Impact
The dispersion quality of the active carbon within the mixture governs the subsequent uniformity of the electrode. Non-uniform binder distribution leads to localized delamination during cell cycling. Consistent lot chemistry is essential to avoid localized lithium plating during high-rate charging.
Traceability Boundary
Each batch is assigned a unique identifier to trace performance variations in finished cells back to the specific mixing conditions. This tracking limits the scope of product recalls if a defect is identified later in the manufacturing process.
